Works have recently been completed to rehabilitate the stormwater outlet at the Willandra Road bridge. The essential works, which took five weeks to complete, included stabilisation of the eroded creek bank on the eastern side of South Creek.
Key improvements included the installation of a sandstone log retaining wall along the creek bank and extension of the stormwater pipe.
Additionally, rock was placed within the creek bed to provide stability and protect against creek erosion near the stormwater pipe.
Modifications were also made to the existing concrete wall and drain to improve the stability and alignment with other stormwater infrastructure. The site has also been revegetated to improve habitat and soil stability.
The upgrade works have protected the creek bank from further erosion, thereby preventing downstream sedimentation and protecting the local aquatic and riparian ecosystems of South Creek and Narrabeen Lagoon.
