Our community would not be the same without the very real contribution from our volunteers, helping to deliver often much-needed programs, services, events and activities.
In recognition of their hard work and value, we plan to add an extra category, Community Group of the Year, to our Australia Day Citizen of the Year Awards.
This means that in addition to individuals being rewarded for outstanding service, community groups will also be acknowledged.
In addition, as part of changes to our Community Services Awards policy, non-Australian citizens will become eligible to win Outstanding Community Service Awards.
And the current Citizen of the Year will be invited to join the judging panel for the following year’s awards.
We believe these changes will further enhance the inclusiveness of Council’s important recognition program.
Showcasing these incredible members of our community motivates and inspires others to volunteer, which will further improve inclusion and connection on the Northern Beaches.
