Wondering what to do with your leftover real Christmas tree, wrapping paper or boxes once the celebrations are over?
It’s the most wonderful, and often the most wasteful, time of year. But there are plenty of options for reusing and recycling to avoid sending your festive waste to landfill.
Real Christmas trees
You can cut these up and place in your green vegetation bin with the lid closed flat and we’ll collect with the vegetation collection.
If you’d prefer not to cut the tree to fit your vegetation bin, you may drop it off for free at Kimbriki, Ingleside.
Wrapping paper and cards
Save, store and reuse wrapping paper next year. If it can’t be salvaged after enthusiastic unwrapping, remove sticky tape and place it in your blue bin for recycling. Wrapping paper or cards with plastic coating, foil or glitter goes in the red bin instead.
Cardboard
If you find yourself with excess cardboard you cannot fit into your blue bin, take it to our walk-in collection day. Please flatten boxes and remove tape and labels.

Polystyrene packaging
Hold onto your polystyrene packaging until our next drop-off collection day. Bring rigid pieces of clean, white and dry polystyrene to us and we’ll recycle it for free. No bean bag beads.
