Have Your Say Day 2025 is back for its fourth year! This year's annual forum is happening for the first time at Northern Beaches Secondary Collage (NBSC) Freshwater Senior Campus on Wednesday 21 May, 6 - 8pm.
The free youth-led event, initiated by Council’s Youth Advisory Group (YAG) in 2022 and developed with a network of local school leaders known as the Beaches’ Leadership Team (BLT), allows young people to have a voice on crucial issues affecting them and their peers.
On the night, a network of local student leaders from 10 public and independent schools will speak on 8 topics identified from a comprehensive survey of over 2000 local young people.
Each speaker will present key insights into the challenges and concerns facing young people across the Northern Beaches. Mental health and gender discrimination, economic pressures and the negative impact of social media will be topics high on the agenda.
To help build advocacy skills and empower and prepare presenters ahead of the event, the Office of the Advocate for Children and Young People, a key partner in the event, facilitated advocacy workshops with the young leaders.
Key leaders and decision-makers, including State and Federal MPs, Northern Beaches and other local government Councillors, school executives, and youth services, have been invited to attend and engage in meaningful discussion that drive positive change.
