Create vibrant 'Pop Art' style prints using an easy-to-do from home method as taught by Yeehwan Yeoh.
Yeehwan Yeoh is an artist living and making art in the Northern Beaches. She recently started The Pop Art Studio in Manly where she runs classes for children in comic art, street art, sculpture, printmaking and ceramics. Included in your kit:
- 2 x A4 printmaking foam sheets
- 1 x black paint
- 1 x coloured paint
- 1 x foam roller
- A selection of recycled paper to print on
- 1 x recycled card template
- 1 x A4 corrugated card backing board
- 1 x bulldog clip
- 4 x adhesive dots to mount your print
What you will need:
- Scissors
- Ball point pen
- Newspaper and paper towel
Method:
- Using the bulldog clip, clip in place your selected image on the foam board.
- With a ballpoint pen copy the design by firmly pushing the pen through the paper to create an indent in the foam.
- Cut out your design with foam space around your design.
- To begin printing, dollop paint on the foam board and use the foam roller to spread out evenly. Apply more paint if needed.
- With the painted side down, press on to your paper and use your palm to rub the back of the board. Peel off the board.
- To change paint colours just wipe the foam board with a paper towel and wash your roller.
- Allow your artwork to dry. When dry if your artwork is curling use a heavy book to flatten out.
- To mount onto the A4 cardboard, rip the 4 sticky dots to individual dots. Peel one side of the dot off. On the back of your artwork place the dot down and peel off the backing. Repeat in the four corners and flip over to stick on the cardboard.
- The bulldog clip can be used to hang your design.
