About the Working Group
The purpose of the Live and Local Working Group is to support the growth of the live music scene on the Northern Beaches, in accordance with the priorities and outcomes of the Live and Local program.

Working Group Role and Responsibilities
The role of the participating Working Group members is varied and includes but is not limited to;
- Attendance at online meetings
- Provision of relevant information to assist with conducting a live music census
- Contribution of ideas and insight about:
- the delivery of live music events,
- the professional development needs of the local live music community,
- the future planning and policy development for the region and
- the long-term growth strategies for the local live music scene
- Assistance in promoting opportunities and events that are part of the Live and Local program
The Working Group’s role is to provide information and insights to Council staff, and as such is advisory only.
Membership
Members of the Live and Local Working Group are volunteers and are not paid a fee.
Membership of the Working Group will include a diverse range of people based in, or have a relevant connection with, the Northern Beaches. They will be experienced and broadminded with an ability to consider and reflect on the needs of the local music sector rather than their own personal interests. The Working Group will comprise of up to seven community representatives, made up of the following groups:
- First Nations
- Emerging and established musicians
- Music businesses and professionals (e.g. recording studios, technicians, hire companies, music teachers, promoters, booking agents)
- Live music venue owners
- Event and festival organisers
Membership of the Working Group is confirmed after an open Expressions of Interest (EOI), that is assessed as per the Council policy on the appointment of community members to committees.
Eligibility
The Working Group is open to people who live, work, or study in the Northern Beaches LGA. The following eligibility criteria also apply:
- Must be registered for the Live and Local Program. Register now.
Be able to support the above stated objectives of the Working Group including actively seeking views from a diverse range of people in the local music community to provide feedback to the Working Group and Council
- Be able to work as a team, participate in group discussions including listening, and being respectful of other people’s opinions and ideas
- Be able to represent a broad range of views that reflect the diversity of the community
- Have the capacity and motivation to commit to the Working Group for the required duration
- Cannot be an elected representative or staff member of Council.
- Members must have completed an application for the Live and Local program.
EOIs will be assessed by Northern Beaches Council staff in accordance with the Community Committee Framework and Appointment of Community & Stakeholder Representative Policy.
