The Oceanides sculpture, dubbed the ‘Sea Nymphs’ by locals, is located on the edge of Fairy Bower pool. It conjures thoughts of sea creatures such as dolphins as well as mythic sprites cavorting in the waves. In big seas the figures seem to move with the water.

Created by Helen Leete, Oceanides had formed part of the landscape between Manly and Shelly Beach for 18 years before it was damaged in the June 2016 storms.

Following fundraising efforts by the community, supported by Northern Beaches Council, the Oceanides Sculpture was reinstalled in September 2017.

Originally made from ceramic, the replacement sculpture has been cast in bronze and anchored with marine-quality, rust-proof steel.
