Kynan represented Australian at the London 2012 Olympics following 12 years of working towards to secure his Olympic selection. He competed in the Canoe Slalom Men’s Canoe Single (MC1) placing sixth and Men’s C2.

Kynan continued to represent Australia at the World Championships and World Cup until 2015. 

During training at Western Sydney Whitewater Club, Kynan often paddled between Dee Why and Manly in preparation for international competition.
