In 2015, Tom debuted for the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles. In 2017 he was selected to play for the Australian national rugby league team the Kangaroos, and again in 2024. As of 2024 he has played 7 tests for Australia.

He has also been selected to play for the NSW Blues State of Origin team in 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2023.

Tom has received the following awards for his contributions to the sport:

• 2016, 2021 and 2024 NRL Roy Bull ‘Best and Fairest’
• 2021 Dally M Medal for the Best and Fairest player
• 2024 Players’ Player Award
• 2024 Manly’s Leading Try Scoring Award

Tom started playing at Mona Vale Raiders Rugby League Club as a junior and has continued to be involved in the club.
