Northern Beaches Council will host an information session this Saturday 12 November (10am to 12 noon) to present preliminary concept plans for a public domain improvement proposal for Balgowlah Plaza (on the southern side of Sydney Road).
The information session will be open to all community members and local business stakeholders to obtain their ideas and comments on the concept proposal which is aimed at revitalising the retail strip by improving amenity, accessibility, 'image and identity ', and attractiveness as a shopping and community place.
Northern Beaches Council General Manager, Mark Ferguson said they want to create a revitalised, welcoming environment at Balgowlah Plaza through flexible streetscape design; beautification and place-making, including new paving, street furniture and improved lighting to enhance appeal and safety, among other initiatives.
"A key feature of the proposal is to integrate connected pedestrian spaces, to create activity zones and 'community comfort zones ' to ensure Balgowlah Plaza is an attractive place for shoppers and the community well into the future, " Mr Ferguson said.
Northern Beaches Council 's landscape architect and other senior staff will attend the information session to outline the concept proposals, answer questions and take suggestions.
The project budget forms part of the Balgowlah Business Levy which has been earmarked for the Balgowlah Plaza upgrade project.
Council has prepared an information newsletter about the project for local distribution.
Exhibition of the plans will also be made available on site, at Council offices, libraries and on yoursay.northernbeaches.nsw.gov.au.
