Northern Beaches Council is gearing up for the September 9 elections, holding briefings for aspiring candidates.
With the amalgamated council there are now five wards electing three Councillors each. The 15 elected Councillors will then elect a Mayor.
General Manager Customer & Corporate Helen Lever said they are anticipating strong interest.
“One of the many steps towards this historic election is to provide information to any aspiring candidates.
“It is important that any aspiring candidate has all the up-to-date and relevant information before they decide to stand,” Ms Lever said.
The candidate briefings are:
- Tuesday 18 July 6-7.30pm, Manly Council Chambers, 1 Belgrave Street
- Saturday 22 July 2-3.30pm, Mona Vale Conference Room, 1 Park Street
The briefings with the Chief Executive Officer and General Managers will offer aspiring candidates a chance to find out more about Northern Beaches Council and the commitments of a Councillor representing the Northern Beaches community. .
To be eligible to stand, candidates must reside in the Northern Beaches Council area but may nominate for a ward in which they do not reside. For example, a resident in Palm Beach can stand in the Manly ward. Candidates can only stand in one ward.
