The Northern Beaches is home to so many amazing individuals and groups working tirelessly to serve others.

This is your chance to nominate someone you know who has made an outstanding contribution to our community, with nominations for the 2025 Australia Day Awards now open.

The awards recognise and celebrate individuals, groups and events, across seven categories:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Senior Citizen of the Year (65 years or older)
  • Young Citizen of the Year (under 25 years)
  • Outstanding Community Service
  • Sportsperson of the Year
  • Community Event of the Year
  • Community Group of the Year

The 2024 Citizen of the Year is Jimmy Arteaga from Forestville. As Unit Commander for Broken Bay Marine Rescue, he has overseen life-saving rescues in the Pittwater/Broken Bay area, while managing 90+ volunteers.

“Being recognised in the Northern Beaches Australia Day Awards honours the dedication and hard work of those who contribute to our community, highlighting their invaluable impact,” Mr Arteaga said.

“Take some time to nominate a local volunteer to celebrate their efforts and inspire others to join in making a difference.”

Nominations are open from 9 September until 4 November 2024.

The awards will be presented at a ceremony to be held in January 2025.
