When it comes to grabbing a coffee, groceries, or even a glow up, many of us opt for the convenience of shopping locally over trekking to the city or Chatswood.

But this festive season why not make your money count, and shop local for your Christmas gifts too?

Local businesses are the lifeblood of our economy. From online websites to shop front ventures, buying local means a more personal shopping experience and helps keep our town centres busy and vibrant.  These businesses are also more likely to employ locals, giving your friends, family and community meaningful work.

In 2023 we identified that 25 percent of local spending, more than 3.6 billion dollars, was leaving the Northern Beaches for places like the city and Chatswood. To turn this around and support our vibrant business community, we launched the Go Local to Grow Local campaign.

Since then than 190 local businesses have been showcased, with our social media reels achieving over 1.6 million views and engagements. The campaign highlights the great food, fashion, services and everyday essentials available right here at home.

Over the past 18 months we have seen a positive shift in local spend. 5 percent more money compared to then is now staying on the Northern Beaches. This means more support for local jobs, local businesses and our local economy.

Let’s keep this local trend going up. Tick off the to-dos on your Christmas wish list this year remembering to think local, go local and shop local.
