Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub is a nationally and state-listed Threatened Ecological Community. It consists of sclerophyllous heath vegetation which is confined to wind formed sand deposits and some remnants contains small patches of woodland low forest. It once occupied around 5,300 hectares of land between North Head and Botany Bay. There is only approximately 146 hectares still surviving with a large percentage of this located on North Head.
Dominant species include Banksia aemula, Banksia ericifolia, Banksia serrata, Eriostemon australasius, Leptospermum laevigatum and Xanthorrhoea resinifera.
