This vegetation community is found on river flats of the coastal floodplains, as the name suggests, and consists of tall open trees of eucalyptus. The distinguishing features that separate is from other coastal floodplains threatened communities is the dominance of eucalypt canopy and low abundance of Casuarina and Melaleuca species.

Given its habitat, this community has an important role in maintaining riparian ecosystems and bank stability. The structure of this community may vary from tall open forests to woodlands, although partial clearing may have reduced the canopy to scattered trees. River-Flat Eucalypt Forest on Coastal Floodplains provides habitat for a range of animals, including many that are dependant on trees for food, nesting or roosting.

This vegetation community can be found along Middle Creek and Deep Creek and other areas surrounding the Narrabeen Lagoon Catchment.
