Honey locust is a deciduous, spiny tree that spreads rapidly from seed capable of out-competing and replacing native vegetation. It forms dense thickets, particularly along waterways, preventing stock access to water. The sharp barbs on its branches can also injure wildlife and people.
Control
- Mechanical removal by uprooting and removing and destroying seed heads.
- Extensive infestations of fountain grass are probably best controlled with herbicides, combined with mechanical techniques.
