Helen Proctor
Narrabeen Lagoon, 2022
This latest addition to Council’s Street Art collection is a work by Helen Proctor. The artwork is an abstract depiction of the waterways and bushland around Narrabeen. This interpretation of the landscape pulls our focus towards the distinctive colours and shapes of the area, reflecting the natural vibrancy and distinctiveness of a place that locals know so well.
Helen Proctor was commissioned to create this work on the exterior wall of the Tramshed Arts and Community Centre as part of Youth Week 2022.
Artist bio
Helen Proctor is an Australian artist who has recently returned from living abroad in Europe, and now lives on the Northern Beaches. She has developed a focus on abstract landscape painting both in her studio and on large-scale mural projects. Her current practice explores the use of colour and methods of abstraction to depict the emotional nostalgia that is revived through a personal connection to place.
Helen has carved out a reputation within the Sydney street art scene for her stencils, paste-ups and murals. Now she returns to where it all began, to showcase her new work and reconnect with her home.
