Emerging Curator Program

The Emerging Curator Program provides an early-practice curator the opportunity to produce a funded exhibition and series of public events at Curl Curl Creative Space with support from Council’s arts specialists and mentorship from the curators at Manly Art Gallery & Museum.

The program is designed for emerging curators and artists looking to develop their practice, gain knowledge of the arts sector, and grow their professional networks.

If this sounds like you, we encourage you to apply for the 2025 program. 

Please read the Guidelines below before before you begin your applications. 

The mentorship includes support in:

• concept development and research
• artist liaison and selection
• exhibition design
• exhibition writing/essays
• development of exhibition materials (i.e., wall labels and catalogue/room sheet)
• budget and administration management

The recipient receives:

• $2,000 Curator’s fee
• $2000 Artist fee
• $350 Exhibition materials fee

• Mon 03 Feb 2025: Applications Open
• Mon 3 Mar 2024: Applications Close
• Apr 2025: Applicants notified 
• May – Sep 2025: Exhibition planning
• Mon 29 Sep– Sun 12 Oct 2025: Exhibition/Program
• Oct 2025: Evaluation and acquittal
