Every year, Northern Beaches Council applauds our local businesses who do their bit for sustainability. That’s why we sponsor a special Business Sustainability Award as part of the prestigious annual Northern Beaches Local Business Awards.
Business Sustainability Award
The Sustainability Award recognises businesses on the Northern Beaches that adopt and promote sustainable practices. Sustainability is about meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Through economic, social, environmental and cultural initiatives and actions, sustainability aims to provide a healthy, productive, meaningful life for all the community - present and future.
The award highlights excellence in embedding sustainability practices across their business operations, policies, procurement and marketing. We had a great response last year which highlights the growing importance of environmental sustainability in local businesses. The evaluation process looks to identify local businesses that go ‘above and beyond’ what would usually be expected for their industry and business size.
Anyone can nominate a business for the Business Sustainability Award, including customers, community members, businesses owners and staff. Self-nominations are also welcome.

Award Presentation
The Business Sustainability Award Winner and Finalists will be announced at the Gala presentation 2025 Northern Beaches Local Business Awards Evening at Dee Why RSL on Wednesday 11 June, 2025.
Northern Beaches Council reserves the right to withdraw an award if further information or the recipient's conduct draws the awards into disrepute.
