Suitable for ages 7 - 15 years

Discover the creative potential of cardboard as a versatile and sculptural material in this dynamic workshop for young artists. Guided by interdisciplinary artist Gabrielle Bates, explore the exhibition, Beyond the Box, then create a colourful layered relief assemblage inspired by the artworks.

Participants will:

•    Explore basic design principles, drawing techniques and sculpting methods
•    Experiment with texture, mark making and repetitive design 
•    Develop an understanding of composition and form through assembling cut and carved cardboard 
•    Engage with creative problem-solving and material exploration 
•    Discover tactile processes and sustainability by using recycled materials
