E-cigarettes and vaping

Vaping_image.PNG

E-cigarettes, often called ‘vapes’, are electronic devices designed to deliver vapourised liquids into the lungs.

Vapes can contain over 200 chemicals known to harm human health, including the same harmful chemicals found in cleaning products, nail polish remover, weed killer and bug spray.

The main ingredient in vapes is propylene glycol, vegetable glycerine or glycerol. Vapes often also contain nicotine, flavours and other chemicals. Vapes may contain harmful chemicals that aren’t listed on the pack.
The biggest misunderstanding about vapes, is that they are harmless compared to cigarettes. This is not true.

Vapes are not safe.

Refer to NSW Health website for more vaping information, resources and links to support services.

Energy drinks and alcohol don’t mix

AOD energy drinks poster

Caffeine is a stimulant.  Energy drinks contain caffeine and have been found to cause dehydration, insomnia, anxiety, dizziness, trouble breathing, chest pain, a fast heart rate, headaches and nausea.

Alcohol is a depressant drug that slows down the brain and nervous system.

Mixing energy drinks with alcohol can place your body under stress.

If you lose track of the number of drinks (energy and alcohol) you consume, this can be harmful.
